Ratings & Review

The Comprehensive (Price Saver) policy is insurance coverage that offers a 15% discount on the first year’s premium for online purchases. It includes legal liability coverage of up to $20,000,000 and can be customized to suit individual protection needs. This policy provides coverage for accidents where the driver of the insured car is partially or entirely at fault, theft, vandalism, fire, and other risks. It also includes emergency accommodation and transport coverage, personal effects, replacement keys, and more.

On the other hand, the Comprehensive (Price Promise) policy is for customers who prefer to purchase their insurance through Virgin Customer Care representatives. The coverage price is guaranteed to remain the same for the second year of the policy if your circumstances don’t change. This policy includes coverage for new car replacement, emergency accommodation, transport, hire vehicle following theft, and legal liability.

The Third Party Fire and Theft Cover (Price Saver) policy protects cars valued at less than $10,000. It covers damage caused by your vehicle to another person’s vehicle or property, fire, theft, and limited coverage for damage caused by an uninsured vehicle when you are not at fault.

Lastly, the Third Party Property Cover (Price Saver) policy is designed to provide protection when your car causes damage to someone else’s property. It also includes coverage for damage caused by an uninsured vehicle when you are not at fault.

There are certain situations in which your Virgin car insurance claim may not be covered. These circumstances include:

  • If your car was being driven by someone who is not listed on your certificate of insurance.
  • If the driver of your car was excluded by their age.
  • If the driver of your car did not have a valid license.
  • If the driver of your car was under the influence of drugs or alcohol or refused to undergo drug or alcohol testing.
  • If your car was being used for racing, trials, tests, rallies, or any unlawful purpose.
  • If your car was in an un-roadworthy or overloaded condition, or being used to carry explosive or toxic goods.
  • If you did not attend when your car was being shown to someone for sale and it was stolen.
  • If the driver of your car did not remain at the scene of an accident when required to do so.
  • If your claim is for reduction in the car’s value following repair, tyre damage caused by punctures, cuts, or bursts, consequential loss, wear and tear, or rust and corrosion.
  • If it occurred outside of Australia, was deliberately caused by you or anyone acting on your behalf, or caused by the discharge or escape of any oil or coolant, except as the result of a collision.
  • If it resulted from an act of war or terrorism or from detention or confiscation by any relevant government authority.
  • If the loss, damage or liability was caused by cleaning, restoring or modifying the vehicle, or by using the incorrect type of fuel.

How much does Virgin Car Insurance cost?

The price you pay for Virgin car insurance will depend on a range of factors that determine your risk profile. When calculating the cost of your policy, Virgin considers the following:

  • Driver’s age: Younger drivers are generally considered to have less driving experience and are more likely to be involved in accidents, so they may pay higher premiums.
  • Car type: The make and model of your car will be taken into account. Expensive sports cars are usually more costly to insure than small, economical cars.
  • Location: Your car’s location plays a role in determining the cost of your insurance. If you live in an area with a high crime rate or that’s prone to natural disasters, you may pay more.
  • Usage: How much you drive and the type of driving you do also affect your premiums. For example, someone who drives long distances in heavy traffic will likely pay more than someone who rarely drives or who mostly drives in rural areas.
  • Security features: If your car has security features installed, this could lower your premiums.
  • Claims history: Your driving and claims history, as well as the history of any other drivers on the policy, will be taken into account to assess your risk.

Based on these factors, Virgin will calculate your risk and provide you with a quote for your car insurance policy.
