Canadian actor Anna Cathcart shines in the captivating spinoff series XO, Kitty, now available on Netflix. This charming and heartfelt show has quickly become a favourite among viewers. Alongside Cathcart, the talented cast includes Sang Heon Lee, Minyeong Choi, Anthony Keyvan, and Gia Kim.

XO, Kitty centers around the life of Kitty Song Cove (played by Anna Cathcart), a teenage matchmaker who is now 16 years old. Instead of focusing on her sister Lara Jean and Lara’s boyfriend Peter Kavinsky, Kitty is prioritizing her own romantic life. However, the distance between Kitty and her boyfriend Dae (Minyeong Choi) in South Korea becomes challenging. Determined to bridge the gap, Kitty applies and gets accepted to the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS), where Dae and Kitty’s late mother attended.

With her father and stepmom’s approval, Kitty embarks on a journey to Seoul, aiming to connect with her mother’s experiences and hoping for her first kiss with Dae. However, her plans take an unexpected turn when she discovers that Dae has another girlfriend at KISS, Yuri (Gia Kim). As Kitty navigates this complex love triangle, she also forms friendships with Dae’s friends, Q (Anthony Keyvan) and Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee).

XO, Kitty effortlessly weaves together Korean and English languages throughout its 10 episodes, adding an authentic touch to the storyline. The series captures the essence of popular Korean dramas, embracing their captivating twists and turns. While targeting young adults, the show’s charm transcends age, evoking a range of emotions from joyful laughter to heart-wrenching reveals.

The portrayal of genuine teenage flaws is one of the show’s greatest strengths. XO, Kitty recognizes that adolescents are still figuring things out and that uncertainty is a natural part of growing up. Anna Cathcart’s portrayal of Kitty resonates with authenticity, showcasing the struggles and growth of a relatable teenager. The series beautifully captures the essence of self-discovery and the importance of embracing one’s true self.

In addition to its compelling narrative, XO, Kitty boasts a talented ensemble cast. Vancouver’s own Anna Cathcart leads the series, bringing Kitty’s spunky and lovable character to life. The show’s all-Asian and Pacific Islander cast adds depth and diversity, creating a refreshing and inclusive viewing experience. Filmed in Seoul, the series offers a unique opportunity for viewers to immerse themselves in a different cultural setting.

XO, Kitty is a delightful and heartwarming series that will captivate audiences of all ages. Whether you’re a romantic comedy fan or a Korean drama fan, this show has something to offer. Join Kitty on her journey of love, friendship, and self-discovery as she navigates the complexities of relationships and learns valuable life lessons along the way.
