About Beginning (Tamil) Movie

Beginning is an upcoming Tamil movie directed by Jagan Vijaya and will feature Vinoth Kishan and Gouri G Kishan as lead cast. This is Asia’s First Split screen movie.

Beginning, the debut film of Jagan Vijaya, has been warmly welcomed at the ongoing Kolkata International Film Festival. The director, who also screened the film at the Chennai International Film Festival too, explains, “At a time when viewers are consuming various forms of media, I felt it was crucial to make my debut with a film that stood out. Therefore, I created this as a split-screen film in which two narratives will run concurrently. Initially, there were many reservations: Will the public grasp the story? When people simultaneously witness two stories, won’t they be confused? Will audio synchronization cause confusion? I wrote the script in 16 days and completed filming in 15, but post-production took almost 15 months. This format requires some editing.”

Ask Jagan what prompted him to create this notion, and he would respond, “Normally, when a film has numerous storylines, we cut from one to the next and then return to the first. Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan taught me that we can simultaneously narrate multiple tales; the author would have written everything that occurs in different locations at a given moment. I also wished to test it out. Therefore, there will be two stories unfolding simultaneously on television, each of which belongs to a distinct genre.”

Point him that Good Night, Good Morning (directed by Sudhish Kamath) was also a split-screen film, and he would respond, “Yes, but it doesn’t adhere to the premise for the duration of the film.” Even Gaspar Noé’s Vortex is a split-screen film, but likely not entirely. However, in my film, beginning with the opening credits, the screen will be split in half. Beginning with dark screens and audio explanations of the story (from both screens), the split-screen format will continue until the finish.” According to Jagan, who has aided numerous filmmakers for nearly 15 years, the film has been picked for showing in multiple nations. “We submitted our film to numerous film festivals, and it has been selected for showing at 20 venues. The film’s director, Lingusamy, has agreed to release the picture in theatres the following year, he concludes.
