Early Life and Education
Born and bred in Kottawa, Gangu Roshana came to be known as a silent person in the field of cinema. “I was a silent character even in my school,” she said, going down memory lane. “I don’t think that even my class teacher remembered my name because I was not either playing games or shouting with others. Therefore, I had only a handful of friends.”
Gangu Roshana went to Gateway College, Rajagiriya, where she completed her studies. She was an excellent student and participated in many extracurricular activities. After completing her studies, she decided to pursue a career in the film industry.
Career and Achievements
Gangu Roshana has already planted herself where she can bloom. But only a handful of film producers, drunk with jealousy and hatred, are attempting to snatch the fragrance of the well-bloomed flower. Surely it is impossible. Indeed, those who are jealous of others undoubtedly sink into obscurity. Gangu entered the field of cinema at the age of 13. Her maiden cinematic appearance came through a movie titled ‘Samantha.’ Except for Samantha, she has played roles in films such as ‘Yahaluwo,’ ‘Hora Police,’ ‘Nim Him,’ etc.
Her journey through thought to be slow is a long one. She has contributed to our film industry not only as an actress but also as a dubbing artist. Moreover, I asked her favorite character, “All the characters I played are my favorite ones. Because I dedicated my entire life to the creation. When I receive an invitation to play a role, I study the character first and portray the character,” said Gangu. To my question about her turning point, “My answer is very simple. Every character I had played so far is a turning point in my life. I try to do the maximum justice to all my characters.” Gangu said.
